National Organizational Month: Shoe Hanger to Project Storage

This week's tip is a great one. Everyone seems to have an old plastic shoe hanger laying around. Shoe hangers are one of those household products that always seem like a good idea at the time, but then when you get home and try it out, it proves to be more trouble than it's worth. Especially if you buy the cheapest kind that has the clear plastic on the front. The good news is: if you are one of the people who have tried and failed to make your shoe hanger work, there's an alternative use for it that works so well for organizing your quilt projects!

Look What We Did!

I am so pleased and proud to be able to show off our first-ever published book Tiny Obsessions! This was a collaborative effort between Connecting Threads and Vicki Bellino and it's absolutely adorable if I do say so myself! It all started with an idea...

February Candle Mat

When Christmas came to a close on Gifty Galore (QWU) this year, we really needed something to look forward to making. Gifty Galore offers six months of wonderful projects with a new one posted each week from June through December. When the season comes to a close it’s such a disappointment to be left with nothing to make so, Teri and I put our creative heads together and came up with a series of candle mats.

Just in time for the Superbowl!

When our super snuggly and soft flannel basics arrived, I knew I wanted to create something with them, but was a little hesitant on doing a larger project as I have never worked with flannel before. I wanted a simpler project that would give me the experience that I needed, but also a finished product. The perfect solution for this was the Rookie Quarterback Baby Quilt by the Robinson Pattern Company. While I'm not a huge football fan, I know plenty of people who are so this will make a great gift when the time comes. Or, I'll just hold on to it for the next time the Buffalo Bills make it to the Superbowl (ha!). I might be holding on to it for a while if that's the case...

National Organizational Month: Shabby to Chic Storage!

I don't know about you, but the space in my house that I've been allotted for my sewing room is pretty tight. In fact, I share my sewing room with our guest bedroom. Fortunately, we don't often have guests over who stay the night. However, I just found out that we are expecting some out of town guests next month, and it became glaringly obvious that I needed to do something about storage for my in-progress projects.

Lacey Diamonds

I have a special fondness for the “Big T” block. I affectionately call it my “envelope” block because when colors are chosen carefully, the block is easily made to look like an envelope. This calls for specific gradation in color, and without it the effect is lost. Rhapsody of Reds has the selection needed to accomplish this.

Texas Hold’em

A few years back we had a red, white, and black collection, and I wanted to design a table runner using the Card Trick block, however, was not ready technically to write the pattern.  Guess what… ta-dah!!! Here it is, Texas Hold’em! It was designed narrow so as to take negligible space on a game table.
