Jenni’s Bolero top made out of Matsuri

As I was searching through projects I wanted to do in Fabric by Fabric - One Yard Wonders, I stopped almost immediately on the Cap Sleeve Bolero— it's just too cute! The top was listed under the "Lightweight Cottons" chapter, and I knew instantly it would be a great project to do with our new line of cotton lawn in the Matsuri collection.

My first embroidery project

As some of you saw on our Facebook page, I am working on my very first embroidery project. I want to start off by saying that I really, really enjoy this craft. While tricky at times, it’s a great way to express your creative side. It’s also a really fun way to add your personal touch to a project. My cousin Sarah is having a boy – the first boy to be born in ...

New Embroidery Patterns for Spring

It seems that embroidery is really making a comeback lately, which makes me happy because I've always been a fan. It's great to see some fresh, new patterns out there. Some of our in-house designers have been bitten by the bug as well. Have you seen Mari's sheep embroidery on the Three Sheep Tote? Or Jenni's super-cute free embroidery patterns for her Sailor Girl and Boy pillows to go with our new Smooth Sailing collection? Ever since I saw Sarah Jane's "Make It Do" pattern at market last spring, I've had it on my to-do list. Being on maternity leave finally gave me the spare time to actually do it!

Sailor Boy and Girl Embroidery Patterns

Nautical is my favorite theme of all time! In real life, I wish I could dress like a sailor on a daily basis. So when I was designing my Smooth Sailing collection, I became inspired in many ways! I wanted to tie in my love of embroidery with my love of nautical, so I designed these cute little embroidered pillows. I suppose I was also inspired by Shirley Temple’s “On The Good Ship Lollipop” since I ...

The Kimono Robe and Sleep Well pajamas

Summer is almost here, and with summer, we all need some lighter loungewear to use around the house. If you’re the type of person who has DIY running through their veins (join the club!), you might want to take a look at these awesome patterns. When it comes to pajamas, I’ve all but given up on trying to find a pre-made pair that will fit me. I’m 5’10” tall, and let me tell you, that makes finding a ...

Celebrate Spring with Matsuri!

I absolutely love my Matsuri collection and I knew instantly that I wanted to make a quilt in this collection, specifically as a present for my mother.  This year is her 65th birthday and I wanted to give her a special gift.  I know I’m a very lucky girl to be able to be in the position that I am, where I can create fabrics and then actually use them, so this will really mean so much to her!

Introducing our new Saltbox Village collection!

The Saltbox Village collection depicts a cozy look and feel of life in the country. It is a blend of the beautiful, comfortable and practical.  Characteristically, it is reminiscent of life in rural America complete with people, households and farming culture.  The Saltbox Village focal, Hometowne, is all of this including a twang of Americana.

The Three Sheep Tote

I’m such a sucker for a new bag pattern. The Three Sheep Tote, made from Saltbox Village, was really a fun one. The tote combines both some simple embroidery with fussy-cut pieces to make a good sized bag that will be handy for toting projects to quilt group, or back and forth to work. The embroidery worked up fairly fast, and Mari’s directions to complete the bag are just super. I ...
