Snapshots Quilt

Shhh!  Don’t tell anyone, but I have a bit of a problem-- I can’t go anywhere near flannel without reaching out and stroking it.  And our flannel is especially nice to touch!  So when Big Sky Lodge arrived I started thinking about which quilt I wanted to make.   Snapshots was an easy choice: it uses plaid in the borders, and is blue (two more things I’m partial to).  I also loved that it showcases the animal print just beautifully.

Crooked Trail

I certainly love red, white and blue as well as plaids, special weaves and images from nature.  The chevron is especially a favorite as well.  Crooked Trail reminded me of a forest setting, and a "not so deliberate" trail that seems to always recreate itself. Usually crooked, the path is determined by the terrain itself rarely being straight. Also, the peaks and valleys of the chevron design bring to mind hills and valleys difficultly traveled.

My Big Sky Lodge Collection

When it came time to design Big Sky Lodge, I knew immediately I wanted to design a flannel group that was more masculine in nature, yet still gender neutral.  We get lots of comments and requests and believe me, we do hear you and we do listen.  In my time here, the few flannel groups we’ve had have been feminine and or baby themed, so it was definitely time for a more masculine group.

Teddy & Frosty Gift Tags

I’m a sucker for tags…all sorts of tags.  So when I saw the Teddy and Frosty Gift Tags Pattern Download by Sipiweske Quilt Designs I fell in love.  They are incredibly adorable and several people in the office have been eyeing them, so I have to be on guard to make sure they don’t mysteriously disappear!

My little helper!

Boy, I sure don’t know how I got anything done before my son came along. At three he is in the “helping” stage and wants to help with EVERYTHING. God forbid any one flushes the toilet or throws anything in the trash themselves because apparently those are his jobs. Quilting, it seems, is not exempt from his help. I was trying to get my Autumn Berries Table Runner, from the book My Runners, finished up in time to decorate ...

Florabunda

I love the rich, deep colors found in the Rose Manor Collection.  Reds in shades of wine, with greens of olive and evergreen, complemented by soft cream, antique, mustard and taupe, bring Rose Manor to life!

Introducing Rose Manor

Rose Manor, is an elegant collection that exudes sophistication. These are typically not things that are up my alley (I’m generally more of a modern girl), however, I find myself wanting to be immersed in a huge pile of these fabrics. The colors have a beautifully soft, yet vibrant vintage touch coalesced with graceful rosebuds, scrolls, leaves and vines. When brought together, these fabrics produce some truly stunning quilts and other small projects.

Spring Cleaning in Fall

I have been meaning to “spring clean” my sewing room all year but kept putting it off. I thought maybe if I just bit the bullet and did it, it might jump-start my holiday sewing. I dug everything out of the walk-in closet -- man can you cram a LOT of things in a small walk-in closet! It was like a magician’s hat: stuff just kept coming out.
