Thank you to everyone who participated in our Easy Batik giveaway!  As it turns out, it’s a pretty even split between those of you who like to use batiks for landscape quilts versus more traditional quilts.  Very interesting!
Using a random number generator, we have selected three winners who will each receive a copy of the Easy Batik Landscape Quilts book and one winner who will receive a fat eighths sampler of our Batik …

Gifty Galore 2011: Fresh Fabric Treats Table Runner

by

Using 2-1/2” strips from Charlottesville, I made this beautiful table runner from the book Fresh Fabric Treats and completed it in a day.  That included borders, quilting and binding. There was relatively little prep.  Every other center strip is gathered to give a look of texture and dimension to the table runner.  The center was quilted “in the ditch” and the border was quilted every ½” from the inside of the binding.

2011 Cyber Monday Sale

by

I know Black Friday sales are a family tradition in some households that often involve long lists, road maps, and camping in parking lots, but I prefer to avoid the crowds and stay home on Black Friday. Now Cyber Monday sales, on the other hand, are more my style. I love the convenience of shopping from home (or even at work on my lunch break!). Now, we know not everyone can shop at work, so this year we’re starting our Cyber Monday sale a day early, on Sunday 11/27/11 at 6 a.m. PST for all you early birds on the West Coast. The sale doesn’t end until Tuesday, 11/29/11 at 8 a.m. PST, so you’ll have plenty of time to log on and stock up on some super Cyber Monday deals. Bookmark this Cyber Monday landing page and check back Sunday morning to see what’s on sale, or sign up for our weekly e-newsletter, and we’ll deliver a reminder to your inbox on Sunday. Happy shopping!

An Easy Batik Giveaway!

I love Batiks!  I especially love the one to two-tones with the delicate, nature-stamped designs.  The multi-colored, tie-dyed ones give you a variety of possibilities just by where you cut on the fabric.    The single colored Batiks with dye stripes, bubbles or swirls provide your quilts with light, shade and depth without having to create it with different pieces.  Because of the special dying and stamping process performed by skilled artisans in Java, Indonesia, each cut of fabric becomes its own piece of artwork.

Batiks have been very popular for use in art and landscape quilts, but more and more people are using them in traditional pieced quilts.  I love this!  The vibrant and tonal quality of the fabrics, create something new and fresh with a very traditional feel.  Our Check Out the Stars Twin Quilt Kit is a perfect example of this.

Gifty Galore 2011: Panda Bolster

When we were choosing which “Gifty” projects we wanted to do, I eagerly chose the Panda Bolster pattern from Stash Happy Patchwork by Cynthia Shaffer. I just fell in love with it!  It’s sooooo adorable.  And yes, I’ll admit, it reminded me a lot of Pasquale!!!  I was also really drawn to it because of the colors, I knew I wanted this project to be a gift for me, and I like neutrals in my house with accents of color–just like this bolster!

Designer Downloads: Great Seasonal Download Patterns

We have some great downloads that are just fabulous for this time of year. So Deck the Halls with Fabric! Some of my favorite seasonal projects that we have available for download are the Starlight Table TopperWinter Through the Seasons Table Runner and the Poinsettia Table Runner and Placemats. These three projects would sew up relatively quickly and help bring in the cheer. There are many more patterns to choose from.  If you are looking for a bigger project this season, I would recommend the Christmas Goose Pattern.
